I went today to Rising Sun looking for a qipao for a friend. I wasn’t able to buy anything since said friend wasn’t here to try on but the variety in this shop is unbelievable. I visited all the local places that sold them and especially disappointed with places like Ochi that sell the same thing for almost 5x the price I was offered. While it is disorienting to be hit by a barrage of colour and trinkets all over the place the store owner Jennifer does a wonderful job guiding me through their different pieces and really making you feel at home. They sell all sort of accessories here too so you can really find everything in a one stop shop. They specialize mainly in qipao and have great stock in all sorts of colours and patterns. She also offers alteration services which is reassuring for our sizing issues.

Wow, I'm speechless. I was beginning to lose hope of wearing my mom's cheongsam from (over 35?!) years ago, and was preparing to buy one off the rack. Thank my lucky stars I visited here, waited for and met Jennifer, and that she was willing to adjust the dress on the spot. She is truly a gem and I'm so thankful for her. Make sure you call before you drop by, sometimes the hours aren't quite correct, but she's so well worth the visit and will go the extra mile to help you. Looking forward to returning for a jacket for my fiancée :) a million thanks to you again, Jennifer!

Jannifer was incredible to work with, she has the warmest demeanour and gave the best service. I went to Rising Sun looking for a cheongsam (qi pao), and was not disappointed. She has an extensive collection of traditional Chinese dresses for women, men and children in so many colours and sizes and will offer alterations so that it fits you perfectly. It was my first time shopping for a Chinese men's kung fu-style coat, so I turned to Google to find the best selection in Chinatown. That’s how I discovered Rising Sun. I highly recommend this store. Tip: call her ahead of time. Jennifer, the store owner, typically opens in the late afternoon, around 2 PM to 8 PM. Jennifer was incredibly helpful and experienced. Since my son couldn’t come with me, I showed her some photos and described his build. She was able to recommend the right size with confidence. The prices were reasonable, and the service felt personal and thoughtful. The store also carries a wide range of women’s Cheongsam (qipao) dresses. While online shopping is convenient, being able to see and try the garments in person makes a big difference. Rising Sun also offers gifts and children’s clothing, making it a great spot for finding traditional wear. Makes great gifts or Holiday gift ideas. I'll be back if I need a Chinese NY or wedding dress.

I spent an hour trying on dresses for my Chinese tea ceremony. The lady who owns the store was very nice and patient throughout. I was pleasantly surprised when she said she could tailor it on the spot in less than 10 minutes to make the waistline more flattering. She was also kind enough to show me how the sewing machine works because she saw how curious I was. My fiancé also bought a traditional jacket for the ceremony too. The prices here are very reasonable and I would be a repeat customer if I ever need another traditional outfit.

I have been going here for over 15 years now. There are so many treasures and fun clothes. If you love a treasure hunt and looking through display cabinets for a good deal this is the place. Jannifer is a wonderful woman who has always been willing to help me find a good deal. She has some antique pieces of Jade and some beautiful Chinese items for your home. I've been learning feng shui and will be going there for my frog with coins. Recently got some crystals to balance my Chi.

Walked into the RisingSun fashion in Chinatown, immediately the colourful and artistic design of the store attracted us; there are pieces all around, hanging in the air, laid on tables. excellent inventory of various items with a broad selection of styles and colours to choose from. super super friendly owner Jannifer, very knowledgeable on sizing and styling, offered free alternation on the spot for a traditional long dress. Jannifer has worked in Chinatown for over 30+ years and knows the area very well. Highly recommend coming here whether you want to explore Asian culture in an artistic setting, bring home a specific item, or look around surrounded by friendly experts.
